To begin with, all of your style tips have been ever so helpful to me, and you truly give great advice! However, I have one slight problem. My school is about to create a voluntary school uniform: classic black and white skirt, socks, shirt, tie and jacket. I have no intention of wearing the uniform all the time as that would be far too boring. However, I'd like to be able to combine it with my other everyday outfits so that I don't come to school one day in my school uniform and something screaming with color the next day. Can you help me, please? Thank you! <3

I've never heard of a voluntary school uniform before! Anna-Anna-Fofanna, you show great wisdom in wanting to mix your uniform with other pieces. You are a sensible fashionista and I want to give you an A!

The Plaid Skirt
Stereotypical uniform wear, plaid skirts are usually paired with a white blouse, your school tie and a cardigan. Depending on the length of your plaid skirt, you can pair it with any top. Only wear a sweater with it for life-or-fashion death situations.

Plaids usually have anywhere from two to three colors so for a fail-safe combination, choose a top in the same hue as the two less dominant colors. For example, basic black plaid usually has red and white stripes so pick a top in a cranberry red shade or cream to offset the drama of black.

The Shirt
I assume your school shirt is a basic collared, button-front version? If so, it goes with almost everything in your closet, darling. Skinny jeans, cropped pants, skirts…the possibilities are endless!



The Jacket
Take androgyny to a whole new academic level and let your school jacket be part of your scholarly ensemble! Roll up the cuffs to your elbows and spice it up with a pair of preppy khakis or even pinstriped trousers, oxfords and boatneck tops! Alternatively, your jacket can add structure to your favorite summer dresses. Just add a belt and accessories.



The Accessories
Cement your look with the right extras to tie it all together. Your accessory can serve as the focal point of your outfit or draw attention to another, say earrings to showcase an off-shoulder top.
